Matt Brown is an Engineered Wood Specialist at APA – The Engineered Wood Association. He is located in Indiana and serves the greater Chicago area and surrounding region. He works to educate the wood industry on the impacts of energy efficiency and educate the raters, code officials and builders on the advantages of wood construction for energy efficiency and sustainability. He is an ICC Certified Residential Energy Code Inspector/Plans Examiner, HERS Rater and Certified Green Professional (CGP).
Matt’s career in the construction industry began over 15 years ago for a production builder in northern Indiana. He managed many aspects of the company, from drafting and design to customer walk-through and warranty service. As a member of IBA’s code committee, he learned more about the code development process. Matt eventually moved into the energy rating industry and was involved in code development, training, and education in Indiana, Illinois and Michigan, and soon became known as the go-to energy code guy. He became involved with energy codes at the national level and attended ICC hearings.
