It’s hard to believe another month has turned and August is here. Somehow summer is ending, and school is ready to get back in session, and with it the rhythm of work/life balance is due for the fall adjustment. The building industry in our area is caught between playing catch up from an extended wet season, and the 2019 push to get things going before winter visits us again. Of this I am sure, if enough of us got in a room and started talking about lawn installations, we could all lament together over Mother Nature a little more than normal.
Looking ahead to this fall, we will again be participating in a membership drive. The fall drive will be bigger than the spring, as there are state and national incentives based on membership retention. We’ll have more information on that next month.
I will offer up a quick challenge or thought of encouragement. If you know a business that benefits from what our association does, or would benefit from the opportunities here, please write down the name. If recruiting or sales aren’t up your alley, give us a call or shoot us an email with the name of that business. If you don’t have a name to write down, take a minute and write down a quick sentence or two on why you appreciate your membership here. It doesn’t have to be long and fancy, but a quick testimonial for us, if you can. I’m not expecting 100 names or testimonials, but anything you can offer us to help make us stronger is so greatly appreciated. If you feel we’re missing out on something or could do better in other areas, let us know that, too. We want to make sure we’re doing the best we can for present and future members. You can email me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org or you can reach out to Beth or Lyndsi at our office.
We do have a great learning table opportunity coming up August 14th at the HBA office. August 29th is our annual TinCaps night at Parkview Field downtown. Please keep an eye out for the information for this month’s events and happenings in your Monday Morning Blast, as well as this month’s Impact.
This month, I am so proud to say that our local Executive Officer Beth Johnson brought a prestigious award home from the Association Management Conference in Baltimore. Beth was honored with the NAHB Associations Excellence Award for 2018 New Executive Officer. She has done an excellent job in a very short amount of time, and I am so excited that her work was recognized on a national level. Congratulations, Beth, it truly is a well-deserved honor. You can see full details of the award on our news page.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support us through sponsorship, membership, and attending our events. We have a great local association that I am proud to be a part of. This fall is going to be an exciting time. I look forward to seeing more of you out and about and hearing from you soon.
