President’s Pen: Mid-Year Update

July 31, 2018

We are more than halfway through 2018 and new home construction is vibrant and strong! I trust all is well with each and every one of you and your respective companies. According to new home construction permits, as of May 2018, we are seeing a steady increase in activity. The U.S. Census Bureau reported 1,663 single-family permits in Indiana for the month of May. This is a one percent increase from April 2018 and a four percent increase from May 2017. To summarize, the building industry is good! Further comforting news for our industry includes stable interest rates, the local housing shortage, and increased job creation, causing a need for new homes to be built. The market is full of potential clients! Just keep an eye on increasing costs.

ATTENTION ALL BUILDER & DEVELOPER MEMBERS. PLEASE ATTEND

Don’t forget the FREE Builder Breakfast on August 21st from 7:30 am – 9:00 am at Goeglein’s. The agenda includes commissioner updates, OSHA rules & violations and HBA website updates.
