I want to wish you all a happy July. Hopefully summer has started off with a bang for all of you. Now that the weather finally feels like it has made the turn into our warm season, I know many of us will be scrambling to get caught up from our wet and extended season of
rain.
Every month Realtor.com publishes a list of the hottest markets in the country, and the state of Indiana continues to be a state with a heavy presence with two cities in the top three. Lafayette in 3rd place, and our city of Fort Wayne coming in as the #2 hottest market in th country. As the developers in our area continue to try and keep up with builder and buyer demand, our market appears as if it will continue to be a hotspot for home buyers. Projects on the periphery of Allen County also can be something of interest moving forward. The HBA of Fort Wayne recently partnered with Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership, and the Upstate Alliance of Realtors (UPSTAR) to commission a housing study covering 10 area counties. The study was completed by Zimmerman/Volk Associates, and they found that 10 northeast Indiana counties could absorb 12,000-15,000 new housing units over the next 5 years. Not all of these homes will be traditional single-family units that we commonly see; however, the need should continue to propel builders and associate members into projects. As our region continues to look and build itself toward a path of growth, our association remains committed to partnering with others to be able to do things such as this to serve our membership. We had a great time at our summer golf outing this past month. Thank you again to all sponsors, golfers and volunteers for your support. Our golf outings are always some of my favorite events of the year. Congratulations again to Colonial Homes for taking the top spot. I haven’t been counting, but their golf outing win streak may be nearing double digits. Coyote Creek will host our fall golf outing this September.
There are more great events and networking opportunities taking place this month. July 18 brings the next learning table, with Greg Gerbers, the IBA Area 2 Vice President and one of our local members. Greg will be presenting on the new IBA Property & Casualty Insurance Program. This is a great member benefit and will more than likely save you some money! Be sure to register. Click here to register.
A new event is also taking place this month at Pedal City. Join us July 10 for “Boozy Bingo” - a night of networking, appetizers, and some rousing games of bingo. There are going to be some great prizes available, so bring your luckiest bingo dauber, and be ready for a fun summer evening. As a builder or associate member, participation in these events provide fun networking opportunities with colleagues in our industry. They are a great way to get to know each other and create opportunities for future professional relationships. Get signed up, today.
Best regards,
Tyler Kees
