Vision 2020: Public Relations

Our Mission:
The Home Builders Association of Ft. Wayne, Inc. supports all segments of the residential building industry through advocacy, education, workforce development, networking and community involvement.

To carry on from last month and our Strategic Plan, let's focus specifically on public relations. While membership is important every month, it’s important to give back, recognize accomplishments and share in the wealth that is our membership. These key factors come in to play a great deal during these unprecedented times where we need to come together more than ever. Whether we are working remotely, in the field or forced to take a break, we need to be ready to work together. Our brick and mortar building doesn’t make us who we are, our members make us who we are.

As I write this, I can’t help but to stop and think about all the unknowns right now. With that in mind, I have turned to James 1: 2-4, “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.” As we focus on public relations as an industry, let’s work together to build each other up, help our neighbors and fellow members to make each other better along the way. So that through us, the light of Christ would shine to both those who know Him and those who may not yet.

With that in mind, our goals during the strategic planning process for public relations were as follows:

  1. Promote doing business with a member to consumers;
  2. Demonstrate our leadership, stewardship, and impact in our community through charitable activities.

These goals can be reached by building up one another. If a client comes to you asking about a product or service, who do you recommend they go to? Do you advocate you’re a member of the HBA? Are you impacting the community through good deeds and great leadership? Let’s shout those things from the rooftops during these times, because in the end, these PR efforts help us grow all the pillars of our Strategic Plan.

My goal in showing you this is not only to be held accountable but to show you everything going on if you were not aware. Where do you think you could get plugged in? Maybe it's just asking one prospective member a month to join and now you have another reason why.
